London - Wales flyhalf Gareth Anscombe will leave the Cardiff Blues for rivals the Ospreys at the end of the season, the Liberty Stadium region announced on Monday.

Anscombe, 27, has made 26 appearances since his Test debut in 2015 and was Wales' first-choice No 10 as Warren Gatland's side won the Six Nations in March this year.

"I'm delighted to have secured my future to play professional rugby in Wales and to be joining the Ospreys, I am very happy to finally be able to put pen to paper during what's been an unsettling time and commit to staying in Wales," he said.

The junior World Cup winner with New Zealand in 2011 had been linked with a move to clubs in the English Premiership but a move outside of Wales would have made him ineligible for his country as Anscombe has less than 60 caps to his name.

The length of his contract was not revealed, but will depart the Welsh capital having won the European Challenge Cup with the Blues last year.

The Ospreys were set to merge with another Welsh region the Scarlets, but the idea was scrapped in March.
