New Delhi News.Net Monday 15th March, 2010
A 17-year-old leader of a juvenile gang, which burgled houses and then set them on fire, escaped with 26 others from a remand home in northwest Delhi, police said Monday.
The gang leader was picked up March 9 from south Delhi. He has escaped with 26 others from the remand home in Mukherjee Nagar area late Sunday, injuring three guards of the juvenile home.
'Twenty-seven juveniles have escaped remand house by jumping the wall. We have brought back two of them to the remand home. We will be interrogating them so we could know the hideouts of other culprits,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest Delhi) N.C. Bundela.
Police said his gang is suspected of involvement in over 100 thefts and burglaries in the city.
