Models walk the ramp at Bonjour India-Festival of France in Bangalore
New Delhi News.Net Saturday 12th December, 2009 (ANI)
Bangalore, Dec 12 : Fashion lovers in Bangalore witnessed models sashaying down the ramp dressed as mythological Gods and Goddesses in the 'Bonjour India- Festival of France'.
The Bonjour India-Festival of France is being hosted by the Embassy of France in India and Culturesfrance from December 2009 to February 2010 in ten major cities.
In Bangalore, the event is being held at Bangalore's nouveau French hotel. The event will concludes Sunday.
The inaugural day of the event saw the display of a unique collection of men's wear by designer Rony Dutta. The show named 'The Immortals - A Costume Drama' saw designs by Dutta drawing inspiration from the vintage Bengal collection.
Silk brocades and cotton brocades dazzled on the ramp while French models were the show stoppers for Dutta's show.
Talking about his design Dutta said that he wants to showcase the rich Indian design at international fashion shows.
"There is a storyline or I would say just a vignette of something fading or unfading out. It's more to do with the clothes but at the same time we do see a rendition of god in this show. So the word immortal is more signified god to me. So one gets to see a rendition of god during the show," said Dutta.
Jean Yves Hardy, director of Seven India Hospitality Private Limited, feels that a perfect blend of Indian culture and French marketing sense could create what fashion could be in the future.
'Bonjour India-Festival of France' is the first French festival taking place in more than ten Indian cities showcasing French and Indo-French cultural, technological, academic, fashion, exhibitions, scientific and economic events. Email this story to a friend
